We’re Hiring: Part-Time Pool General Manager

Position Overview

The High Woodlands Homeowners Association (HOA) is seeking a motivated, organized, and dependable Part-Time Pool General Manager to oversee the operation of our community swimming pool. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents and guests.

The Pool General Manager serves as the primary liaison between pool staff, vendors, and the HOA Board, overseeing daily operations, staffing, scheduling, maintenance coordination, and resident relations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently and proactively address operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train lifeguards and seasonal pool staff.
  • Ensure employees maintain required certifications and training.
  • Supervise staff, provide coaching, and manage performance, attendance, and conduct.
  • Coordinate preseason training and staff meetings.

Scheduling & Pool Operations

  • Develop and maintain lifeguard and pool staff schedules.
  • Arrange coverage for absences and schedule changes.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels throughout the season.
  • Oversee daily operations and resolve operational concerns.

Facility & Maintenance Coordination

  • Conduct regular inspections of pool facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and service appointments with vendors.
  • Monitor pool cleanliness, safety equipment, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Track maintenance needs and recommend improvements to the HOA Board.

HOA Board Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pool-related matters.
  • Provide regular updates on staffing, maintenance, safety, and operational priorities.
  • Prepare brief reports for HOA Board meetings when requested.
  • Assist with budgeting recommendations for staffing and operations.
  • Promptly communicate urgent safety or facility concerns.

Resident Relations

  • Respond professionally to resident questions, concerns, and pool-related incidents.
  • Assist with enforcing pool rules and community policies.
  • Support community pool events and resident activities.

Qualifications

  • Previous management, supervisory, or pool operations experience preferred.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supervising employees.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Comfortable coordinating with vendors, contractors, and community volunteers.
  • Knowledge of aquatic safety, pool operations, and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, or Pool Operator certifications are a plus, but not required.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position with a seasonal focus and light year-round responsibilities.

  • Primary responsibilities occur during the summer pool season.
  • Limited off-season work supports maintenance coordination, planning, and preparation.
  • Hours vary depending on operational needs.
  • Some evening, weekend, and HOA Board meeting availability may be required.
  • Increased availability is expected before opening day and during peak summer months.

Compensation

Competitive part-time hourly rate, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
